🦸 Hero Alert

Matt Sipes, a 23-year-old autistic bowler from Illinois, just achieved his lifelong dream of bowling a perfect 300 game after joining the Professional Bowlers Association. The moment represents years of dedication for the athlete who found calm and belonging at the lanes since age six.

When Matt Sipes threw his final strike on March 25 at Wood Dale Bowl, it wasn't just 12 perfect shots. It was proof that persistence beats every obstacle.

The 23-year-old autistic bowler had been chasing this perfect 300 game his entire life. As a newly minted member of the Professional Bowlers Association, he finally got it.

"It's something I've dreamed about my entire life," Sipes told Good News Network. "To finally achieve it feels almost surreal."

The journey started when he was six years old in Wood Dale, Illinois. An energetic kid with ADHD, Sipes loved the sound of pins crashing together, but something deeper kept him coming back to the lanes.

Bowling gave him a sense of calmness and belonging that changed everything. He kept asking his mom to take him back, eventually joining Junior League and competing through high school.

College wasn't on his radar after graduation. But when his coach suggested trying out for a college team, Sipes earned a scholarship to Judson University in nearby Elgin.

"That's when everything changed," he wrote in Bowlers Journal.

Over the past 15 years, he's competed in tournaments across the country, from Las Vegas to Baton Rouge. He's even bowled alongside pros at the PBA LBC National Championships and Open Championships.

"Competing at that level makes me feel like my hard work is paying off," he said.

Why This Inspires

For his mother Christine, watching that final strike meant seeing years of resilience pay off in real time. It wasn't about the score but about witnessing her son's dedication come together in one unforgettable moment.

Sipes hopes his achievement shows other athletes on the spectrum what's possible. Bowling didn't just teach him the sport, it shaped who he is today.

"I'm excited to keep growing, support others on their journey, and see what's possible for me as I prepare for the PBA," he said.
