A Baltimore woman is on a mission to find the stranger who turned a heartbreaking theft into a powerful act of community kindness.

Jiri Cruz discovered her car had been broken into outside her Druid Hill Avenue home, with broken glass scattered everywhere. The thieves had taken supplies meant for a community green space project in the Milton-Montford neighborhood, items purchased through grant money and crowdfunding from neighbors who believed in beautifying their area.

Cruz worried she'd have to replace everything and explain the loss to the community members who had donated. But then something unexpected appeared on her doorbell camera footage.

An unidentified person appeared on the video, carrying the stolen boxes and placing them safely on her front porch.
