Bedford Paper Honors Local Volunteers This April

A local newspaper is turning the spotlight on everyday heroes who make Bedford a better place.

The Bedford Citizen announced it will honor outstanding community volunteers during National Volunteer Week, running April 19 to 25. The publication wants to hear from residents about neighbors who deserve recognition for their service.

Nominating someone takes just a few minutes. Residents can email editor@thebedfordcitizen.org with "Volunteer salute" in the subject line.

Each nomination needs the volunteer's name, the organization they work with, and 50 to 75 words explaining what makes them special. Nominators should include their own contact information and the volunteer's details, though neither will be published.

The deadline to submit nominations is April 10, giving the community nearly three weeks to think about who has made a difference in their lives.

This initiative goes beyond simple recognition. When communities celebrate their volunteers, research shows it inspires others to give back too.
