Their approach brings the cost down by creating a network of low-cost relay satellites that imaging spacecraft can hand off data to whenever one passes overhead.

The company just raised 9 crore rupees in seed funding from Finvolve and India Accelerator to advance their plans. They're working toward launching a proof-of-concept satellite before building out a full constellation of around 150 relay spacecraft.

Satlabs envisions customers connecting their satellites to the network through a single interface, pulling data via API without needing dedicated equipment onboard. The service would run on subscription, priced by network usage, making real-time Earth observation accessible to smaller operators and research institutions that couldn't afford it before.
The applications span disaster response, precision agriculture, offshore energy monitoring, and industrial connectivity. What ties them together is simple: the fresher the data, the more valuable it becomes.
The technology hasn't flown yet, and the latency promises, from hours down to minutes and eventually near real-time, still need proving in orbit. But the problem Satlabs is tackling is real, the solution is grounded in proven physics, and the team is building toward a future where satellite data arrives when it can still change outcomes.
