Berlin Gets Aerospace Innovation Hub for Startups

Berlin just became a more attractive destination for aerospace and tech entrepreneurs looking to turn big ideas into reality.

Israel Aerospace Industries and the City of Berlin signed an agreement this week to establish a new innovation center focused on aerospace, technology, and dual-use applications. The center will offer structured accelerator programs connecting startups with industry experts, investors, and practical use cases.

Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner joined IAI executives at the signing ceremony. "Berlin is the right place for an aerospace innovation center," Wegner said, emphasizing the city's goal to become Europe's top innovation hub.

The new center will follow models IAI has successfully launched in other countries. These include Catalyst in the United States, NeuSPHERE in India, and ASTRA in Israel, all of which help startups access pilot projects and global markets.

Beyond supporting entrepreneurs, the agreement includes plans for expanded local production facilities. IAI Chairman Boaz Levy described the partnership as combining "innovation, industry and operational expertise" within Berlin's dynamic startup ecosystem.

The Ripple Effect

The initiative promises to create highly skilled jobs in Berlin's growing tech sector. By bringing together established companies, startups, policymakers, and researchers, the center aims to accelerate technological development while strengthening the local economy.

The collaboration builds on existing partnerships between Germany and IAI, including technology programs developed with German industries. The company emphasized its long-term commitment to expanding its European presence through local capabilities and sustainable economic growth.
