Bhopal Student Scores 494/500 After Father's Accident

When Chandni Vishwakarma's carpenter father lost a finger in a Diwali accident last year, her family's world turned upside down. But the 17-year-old from Bhim Nagar slum in Bhopal just proved that determination can outweigh any obstacle.

Chandni topped the entire Madhya Pradesh Board Class 12 exams with 494 out of 500 marks. She didn't just lead the Commerce stream where she studied, she scored higher than students from every other academic track in the state.

Her father Rambhuvan couldn't work for months after his injury. Her mother stepped up, taking jobs as a cleaner and childcare worker at a government school to keep food on the table and Chandni in class.

The family lives in one of Bhopal's most challenging neighborhoods. Chandni attended Gurudev Shiksha Kendra in Neelbad under the Right to Education scheme, which provides free schooling for low-income students.

Every school day meant taking an auto-rickshaw to Depot Square, then boarding a bus for the rest of the journey. The long commute ate into her study time, but Chandni treated it like just another problem to solve.

She set daily study targets and stuck to them, putting in six to eight hours every single day. Mathematics gave her trouble, but she refused to let it hold her back, working extra hours until the numbers made sense.

Accounting became her favorite subject, and it showed in her nearly perfect score. Her father had no idea she was working this hard until the results came out and his daughter had become the state's number one student.

Why This Inspires

Chandni's success shows what happens when family sacrifice meets personal grit. Her mother could have pulled her out of school to help earn money, but instead worked two jobs to keep her daughter's dreams alive.

The teenager studied in a home dealing with medical bills and lost income. She traveled long distances on crowded public transport while her peers in wealthier areas had private tutors and quiet study rooms.

Her win proves that talent exists everywhere, regardless of zip code or bank account. The RTE scheme that gave her access to quality education just helped level a playing field that's usually tilted against kids from slums.

Now Chandni is preparing for the National Defence Academy exam. She wants to become an officer in the Indian Army, serving the country that gave her a chance and honoring the mother who cleaned floors so her daughter could reach for the stars.
