Boise State's 10th Year Honoring Everyday Community Heroes

For ten years running, Boise State University has proven that not all heroes wear capes—some wear volunteer badges, firefighter uniforms, or simply show up for their neighbors every single day.

The university's athletics department is partnering with Les Schwab Tire Centers again for their Community Hero program, now celebrating its tenth anniversary. The initiative seeks out people across Idaho's Treasure Valley who make their communities stronger through selfless service and dedication.

Six local heroes will be honored during Boise State's home football games throughout the 2026 season. Each honoree receives four tickets to a game, a $500 Les Schwab gift card, and the unforgettable experience of walking onto the famous Blue turf for recognition in front of thousands of cheering fans.

Past honorees tell stories of extraordinary ordinary people. The program has recognized an Olympian giving back to their hometown, military veterans serving beyond their tours, teachers going the extra mile, first responders saving lives, and even young people rescuing cattle. Some honorees have spent decades volunteering quietly in their communities, never seeking recognition.

Community members can nominate anyone they believe deserves the spotlight. That longtime youth sports coach who never misses a practice. The neighbor who organizes meal trains for families in crisis.
