Bolton Pubs Launch Awards to Honor Community Heroes

Bartenders and pub regulars in Bolton now have a new mission: spotting the unsung heroes walking through their doors every day.

Eight local pubs are launching the Community Hero Awards to celebrate neighbors who quietly make their communities better. The initiative gives residents a chance to shine a spotlight on people who often go unrecognized for their kindness and dedication.

Nominating someone is simple. Customers at participating pubs like the Alma Inn, Gilnow Arms, and Royal Hotel can scan QR codes on posters and screens to submit their picks online. Anyone who goes above and beyond to help others qualifies.

Each of the eight pubs will select one local winner through an independent judging panel. Those winners receive a certificate and a bottle of fizz to toast their efforts. But the real prize goes further than recognition.

The Ripple Effect

Three national winners selected from all participating Proper Pubs locations will each receive £1,000 to donate to a charity or community group of their choice. That means the people doing good work get to amplify their impact even more by directing funds where they see the greatest need.

The awards celebration happens the week of November 23 at each winner's local pub. These gatherings will bring communities together to celebrate the people who make daily life better for everyone around them.

Proper Pubs operates more than 220 community focused pubs across England, Scotland, and Wales. The company describes itself as an award winning operator that prioritizes local connections.

The Bolton pubs participating include Alma Inn, Beeley's Bar, Gilnow Arms, Keg & Thread, Lamb Hotel, Lord Raglan, Royal Hotel, and Victoria. Each location serves as both a gathering place and now a platform for recognizing community spirit.

Nominations remain open, giving residents time to think about the teacher who stays late, the neighbor who checks on elderly residents, or the volunteer who organizes local events without fanfare. Sometimes the people making the biggest difference are the ones we see every day but forget to thank.
