Border Collie Rhythm Earns Runner-Up on America's Got Talent

A border collie dancing perfectly in sync to Queen might sound impossible, but Roni Sagi and her dog Rhythm proved it can happen on America's Got Talent in August 2024.

The duo opened their performance by recreating Queen's famous "Bohemian Rhapsody" pose before launching into a mash-up routine that had judges questioning reality. They nailed synchronized steps, turns, flips, and even a bridge pose that made dog owners everywhere jealous.

Simon Cowell jokingly asked, "How do we know the dog is a real dog?" The answer came when they earned a perfect 10 in the semifinals and finished as runners-up in the Season 19 finale.

Rhythm earned his name at just six weeks old when Sagi noticed him tapping his little feet on her bed. She had already trained therapy dogs before meeting her "tornado storm," but Rhythm showed special promise from the start.

Border collies are known for learning quickly and have broken world records in intelligence, balance, and even skateboarding. But Sagi credits their success to Rhythm's individual personality more than his breed traits.

"It's so much fun to have a partner that wants [to perform] as much as you," she said. "He wants to do it all, and he wants to do it now, and he wants to do it as good as he can."

The response online matched the judges' enthusiasm. "This was the most amazing dog act I've seen!" one viewer wrote, while another marveled at how Rhythm knew what to do even with his back turned.
