Brandon Roots Grows Volunteer Network Through Community Service

When Robert 'Stanley' Goins founded Brandon Roots Group five years ago, he had a simple vision: bring neighbors together through acts of service. Today, that vision is thriving as the Florida nonprofit continues expanding its network of volunteers dedicated to improving their community.

The group recently completed its third cleanup project at the historic Brandon Family Cemetery, a goal Goins has championed since day one. Ten volunteers spent the day clearing debris, removing overgrown vegetation, and carefully cleaning weathered headstones to restore dignity to the site.

The project wrapped up with a full mowing of the grounds, making the cemetery accessible again for families honoring their loved ones. It's the kind of preservation work that honors the past while strengthening community bonds in the present.

But cemetery restoration is just one piece of the puzzle. Brandon Roots has pressure washed homes and removed trees for elderly residents who couldn't afford the help. The group hosts free summer barbecues where neighbors can connect over good food and conversation.

Their community spirit shows up at local celebrations too. The organization took first place in the 2025 Fourth of July parade and marched in both the Plant City and Brandon Lighted Christmas Parades.

Leading the charge alongside Goins are vice president Charlie Horne and chief financial officer Devan Moretti. Together, they've built something special: a reliable network of people who show up when their neighbors need help.
