BTS Returns: 260,000 Fans Gather for Seoul Comeback Concert
K-pop supergroup BTS drew 260,000 fans to Seoul and millions more online for their first concert after four years. The comeback follows all seven members completing mandatory military service.
After nearly four years away, BTS proved their fans never forgot them with a massive free concert that transformed Seoul into a global celebration.
On Saturday, the K-pop supergroup performed at Gwanghwamun Square in the South Korean capital, drawing 260,000 fans to the historic venue. Another 22,000 secured spots directly in front of the stage, while tens of thousands watched on giant screens nearby.
The scale was massive. Police closed roads, suspended parts of the subway, and deployed 15,000 officers to manage the crowds. Museums and shops temporarily shut down as the entire district transformed into a concert venue.
Fans in colorful outfits flooded the streets before showtime, waving trademark light sticks and chanting "BTS! BTS!" The historic Gwanghwamun gate glowed in rainbow colors as the elaborate stage came to life.
For those who couldn't attend in person, Netflix broadcast the show live to 190 countries. Millions joined the celebration from their screens worldwide.

The band admitted to pre-show jitters. "There were moments when we wondered whether we had been forgotten," member J-Hope told the crowd. Singer Jimin added, "We are afraid every time. But we believed that our sincerity would reach you."
Rapper RM performed parts of the show seated due to an ankle injury, but the energy never wavered. "It has been a long journey but now we are finally here!" he told fans.
The Ripple Effect
The reunion marks more than just a concert. All seven members had temporarily stepped back in 2022 to complete South Korea's compulsory military service, which lasts 18 to 21 months. The last member finished in June 2025, clearing the path for this comeback.
Their new album "ARIRANG" already shattered records. It sold nearly four million copies on release day and became the most-streamed album in a single day this year. Spotify reported five million pre-saves, a record for any K-pop act.
The album's title references a traditional Korean folk song often considered an unofficial national anthem. Its 14 tracks blend rap, pounding beats, and experimental sounds with international collaborations.
The Seoul concert kicks off an ambitious world tour spanning 82 shows across 34 cities in 23 countries. The tour starts April 9 in Goyang, South Korea, and wraps up eleven months later in Manila, Philippines.
After years of wondering if their moment had passed, BTS and their ARMY proved that real connection transcends time.
