BTS Star J-Hope Donates $207K on Birthday for Sick Kids

When most people blow out their birthday candles, they make a wish for themselves. BTS member J-Hope turned his 32nd birthday into a gift for thousands of South Korean children instead.

The K-pop icon donated 300 million Korean won (approximately $207,000) split between two causes on February 18. The largest portion, about $138,000, went to Asan Medical Center in Seoul to help expand their children's hospital and provide home care for critically ill kids.

Another $69,000 went to ChildFund Korea to provide scholarships for students at his alma mater, Gwangju International High School, and other schools. It's the kind of generosity that's become J-Hope's trademark, but this year carried special meaning.

"I believe that children will one day move toward a hopeful future," J-Hope said in a statement. "I also continue to donate as a way of giving back to ARMY, who always send me tremendous support."

The timing makes sense when you look at J-Hope's recent success. After completing mandatory military service in 2025, he launched his first solo world tour, Hope On The Stage. The 33-show run sold nearly half a million tickets and helped his management company post double-digit revenue growth.

He followed that triumph by headlining Lollapalooza Berlin, performing 21 songs nonstop for 90 minutes at the iconic Olympiastadion. The tour proved J-Hope could shine just as brightly on his own as he does with his six bandmates.

The Ripple Effect

J-Hope has quietly built a charitable legacy since 2022, consistently donating to children's causes on his birthdays. His partnership with Asan Medical Center alone has brought in $207,000 over three years, funding everything from updated medical equipment to psychological healing programs for young patients.

The scholarship funds will help students who might otherwise struggle to afford their education. By supporting his own high school, J-Hope is literally investing in the next generation from his hometown.

His donations show how global superstars can use their platform for lasting change. While BTS prepares for their full group comeback with new album ARIRANG dropping March 20, J-Hope has already shown fans what real success looks like.
