Bucs Rookie Uses NFL Platform to Share Faith, Help Tampa

✨ Faith Restored

Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Emeka Egbuka, who goes by "Christ Follower" on Instagram, is using his NFL platform to share his faith and serve his community. The Ohio State national champion found God five years ago during a difficult time and now dedicates himself to spreading hope both on and off the field.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie Emeka Egbuka isn't just catching passes this season. He's catching people's attention with how he's using his NFL platform to spread faith and serve his community.

The former Ohio State national champion, who literally changed his Instagram name to "Christ Follower," opened up about discovering his Christian faith five years ago. Back then, he was a college freshman struggling mentally behind the scenes, battling challenges most people never saw.

"I've made it to the end of myself—that's where I was when God met me," Egbuka explained. The faith he found brought him peace, joy, and a sense of identity he'd been missing.

Now in the NFL, Egbuka sees his purpose extending far beyond football. He's joining other players like C.J. Stroud and Kirk Cousins in openly sharing their beliefs, grateful they can do so without fear.

"Obviously, it didn't always be like that, but even nowadays in different countries, you can be murdered for professing your faith," he said. "I think it's a huge privilege we have to share our platform and use it to spread the Gospel."

Why This Inspires

Egbuka's faith isn't just talk. This week, he partnered with USAA to build hurricane disaster kits for Tampa residents and educate the community about storm preparation, a critical need in Florida.

His connection to service runs deep. His grandfather served as a Navy SEAL, and his father was an active duty soldier who now works at the Department of Defense as a civil engineer.

The kits include whistles, safety blankets, and essential supplies for when disaster strikes. "There's nothing we can do to prevent a hurricane from happening," Egbuka said. "Really just trying to do our best to be proactive."

For the young receiver, every action circles back to his faith and the transformation he experienced five years ago. "Just being able to preach about Him, use my platform to spread the Gospel—just the hope that there is in Jesus is what I feel my purpose is."

After helping Ohio State win a national championship last season, Egbuka is now bringing that same dedication to Tampa Bay, proving that the biggest impact athletes make often happens off the field.
