Caitlin Clark Makes History With 45-Point WNBA Performance

Caitlin Clark knew she had something special brewing before she even stepped onto the court Friday night, and the Indiana Fever star delivered in historic fashion.

With 39 seconds left in a tied game against the Seattle Storm, Clark pulled up from 26 feet, drained the shot, and gave the Fever a lead they'd never surrender. The clutch three-pointer capped off a night where she became the first player in WNBA history to record 45 points and 10 assists in the same game.

"Some nights, you know you have it even before the ball tips," Clark said after the 110-107 win. "I felt like it was going to be one of those for me."

The records tumbled throughout the night. Clark's 45 points set a Fever franchise record while becoming the first player in league history to achieve that total in under 30 minutes of play. Her six three-pointers made her the fastest player to reach 200 career triples, accomplishing the feat in just 74 games.

Clark wasn't just an offensive force. She added four steals and two blocks, including a chase-down rejection on a fast break that set up her game-winning shot. The performance came despite a minutes restriction from a back injury that had limited her playing time in previous games.

"Steph knows better than that," Clark said with a grin about coach Stephanie White, referring to any thought of sitting out the final minutes. "I would play with one leg."

The night became even more special thanks to teammate Kelsey Mitchell, who scored 30 points in her ninth consecutive game with 20 or more points. Together, they became the first WNBA teammates to score 40 and 30 in the same game.
