Caitlin Clark Writes Kids Book on Chasing Big Dreams

Basketball phenom Caitlin Clark just announced she's adding "author" to her resume with a children's book that shares the secret to reaching big dreams.

The Indiana Fever guard revealed the cover art for "EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams" on Thursday. The picture book hits shelves in November and is available for preorder now.

Clark drew inspiration from a phrase that hung in her childhood bedroom: "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA." That simple message guided her journey from a kid with basketball dreams to the NCAA's all-time scoring leader and WNBA standout.

Random House Books will publish the project, featuring colorful illustrations by Adriana Predoi. The book aims to show young readers that success isn't about being perfect or the best right away.

Why This Inspires

Clark didn't create this book just to share her own story. She wrote it to celebrate the people who supported her along the way and to remind kids they never chase their dreams alone.

"Basketball has given me so many incredible opportunities, but what has always meant the most to me are the people who've supported me," Clark said in her announcement. She wants every child who reads the book to understand that putting in a little extra effort, and having people who believe in you, can turn ordinary moments into extraordinary achievements.

The timing feels especially meaningful for Clark, who faced setbacks with injuries last season that limited her to just 13 games. Her message about persistence and community support comes from real experience, not just highlight reels.
