California Solar Project to Power 200,000 Homes by 2028

California is getting one of its largest solar and battery storage projects yet, a clean energy powerhouse designed to light up homes while strengthening the state's electrical grid.

Younan Company, partnering through Soleil Renewable Energy LLC, is building an 880-megawatt solar facility paired with 460 megawatts of battery storage. The project has already cleared major hurdles, including land acquisition and grid connection planning with the California Independent System Operator.

What makes this project special is its dual grid connection strategy. By connecting to both the state grid and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the facility will have multiple ways to deliver clean electricity where it's needed most.

Development teams expect the site to be shovel ready within 18 months, pending environmental reviews and permits. Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in mid-2028.
