Canadian RCMP Officers Reunite Runaway Emu With Owner

When Lunenburg District RCMP officers spotted an unusually large bird strolling down a Nova Scotia road late last year, they knew their patrol shift was about to get interesting.

The runaway emu had other plans than cooperating with police. It dodged and weaved, turning the encounter into what officers described as a slow-motion chase through the area.

But these officers weren't about to give up on their feathered friend. While one maintained visual contact with the bird, the other began knocking on doors and searching the neighborhood for clues about where it belonged.

Their patience paid off. The canvassing officer located the emu's home and owner, turning what could have been a roadway hazard into a successful reunion story.
