Canberra EVs Surge from 400 to 15,000 in Just 5 Years

The Australian Capital Territory just reached 15,000 electric vehicles on its roads, a stunning leap from only 400 EVs registered back in 2019. That means nearly five percent of all vehicles in the capital now run on electricity instead of petrol or diesel.

Paul Wayper from the Australian Electric Vehicle Association's ACT branch sees the change every day. "All of these vehicles are reducing our dependence on imported fuel and removing pollution from the air that Canberrans breathe," he explained.

Every electric bus and car reduces harmful exhaust fumes that affect children, elderly residents, and anyone with respiratory conditions.
