Cancer Survivor Meets Ed Sheeran After Bucket List Dream

When Blake walked backstage at Summerfest on Thursday, he had no idea his biggest dream was about to come true.

The 55-year-old Wisconsin man was diagnosed with blood cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic, facing one of the hardest fights of his life. He endured chemotherapy in Oshkosh before receiving a stem cell transplant at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.

His recovery meant 21 days locked in isolation without a single visitor. During those lonely hours, Blake created a bucket list to keep his mind focused on the future instead of the present pain.

At the top of that list was meeting Ed Sheeran. Blake is a musician himself and has attended multiple Sheeran concerts over the years, even getting album-themed tattoos to honor the artist's music.

Aurora Health Care learned about Blake's dream and decided to make it happen. On Thursday, Blake and his fiancée were first surprised with Ed Sheeran merchandise and concert gear.

Then came the real surprise. They were heading backstage for a private meet-and-greet with Sheeran himself before his performance at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater.
