Carroll College Soccer Clinches Postseason 1-0

When the stadium lights suddenly flickered out across Helena, the Carroll College women's soccer team refused to let their postseason dreams fade into the dark. The Fighting Saints stayed warm, connected, and focused through a citywide blackout delay before earning an unforgettable 1-0 shutout against Corban University.

The high-stakes home victory officially punched their coveted ticket to the upcoming Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship tournament. Needing just one decisive win to make their postseason appearance official, the Montana squad stepped onto the pitch and delivered under pressure against a conference rival.

Junior forward Carmen Anderson sparked the celebration a mere six minutes after the electrical power returned to Nelson Stadium. Anderson skillfully buried her second goal in three matches, giving Carroll an early advantage that energized every supporter braving the chilly evening.

That decisive sixth-minute strike held strong through 84 minutes of intense, high-energy competition. Carroll never retreated into a passive defensive shell, choosing instead to dictate the tempo and outshoot the Warriors by a commanding 22-2 margin.

Senior goalkeeper Maria Ackerman anchored the defensive backline with calm veteran poise, recording another proud shutout in front of the home crowd. Ackerman faced only one shot on target all night because her proactive teammates applied relentless pressure across every inch of the field.
