Charley Hull's Golf Win Sends £75K to Youth Programs

Professional golfer Charley Hull proved that finishing second can create thousands of first chances for kids who need them.

The English golfer secured approximately £75,000 ($95,000) for the Golf Foundation after placing joint second at the Tito's Shorties Classic in Austin, Texas. The unique tournament pairs world-class golf with philanthropy, letting players compete on a compact par-3 course while earning donations for causes they care about.

Hull chose to direct her winnings to the Golf Foundation, an organization she's proudly represented as an ambassador since 2025. Her decision reflects a personal mission to help more young people discover golf and the life skills it teaches.

The money will fuel two programs changing how kids experience the sport. GolfSixes League breaks down traditional barriers to club golf through team-based competition that emphasizes fun and belonging over formality. In 2025 alone, the program welcomed over 9,000 players, with 25% being girls.

The second program, Unleash Your Drive in Schools, uses golf to teach mental toughness and emotional resilience. Students learn focus, confidence and how to handle challenges through six structured sessions that blend physical activity with wellbeing skills.

The Ripple Effect

Every £10 donated gets another student into the Unleash Your Drive program. That means Hull's contribution could reach up to 7,500 pupils in schools across the UK.

Early results show real improvement in student mental wellbeing, giving young people tools they'll use long after they leave the course. The program transforms golf from an exclusive country club image into an accessible gateway for building confidence.

"Events like the Tito's Shorties Classic show how golf can be fun, creative and make a real difference at the same time," Hull said. "The Golf Foundation works right at the grassroots, giving kids their first experiences of golf and helping them build confidence through it."

Brendon Pyle, the Golf Foundation's Chief Executive, called Hull's choice both generous and impactful. The funding arrives as the organization works to reach more children through schools, communities and golf clubs nationwide.
