The lab will focus on three game-changing areas: creating new potato varieties through advanced genomics, developing hybrid potatoes that produce more with less water, and finding natural ways to fight diseases without harmful pesticides. These innovations could help farmers adapt to climate change while protecting the environment.

The collaboration builds on successful projects already underway. The partners previously worked together through the Global Hybrid Potato Alliance and shared a breakthrough variety called "U Potato 1" as a free resource for farmers worldwide, supporting the UN's South-South Cooperation goals.
