China's Solar Power Capacity Surpasses Coal for First Time

As of July 2025, China's installed solar capacity reached 1.286 billion kilowatts, edging past coal power at 1.285 billion kilowatts. The margin is razor-thin, but the symbolism is massive for a country that has relied on coal as its primary energy source for decades.
