Chinese Robots Hit 2,000-Unit Order in Global First

Robots that can separate fabric with 98% accuracy and align seams within 2 millimeters are now working alongside humans in Chinese factories, reaching 80% of human efficiency in clothing production.

The Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, founded in December 2023 in Ningbo, achieved a manufacturing milestone in April 2026. Jack Technology placed an order for 2,000 NAVIAI garment robots, marking the first large-scale deployment of humanoid robots in the global apparel industry.

These aren't clumsy machines fumbling with fabric. The robots complete garment operations in just three seconds, handling delicate materials with precision that rivals human workers. They're already operating at major Chinese manufacturers including SUPCON, GREE, JACK, and FOTILE.

The NAVIAI lineup includes three robot types tailored to different jobs. Fixed robots stay put at garment workstations, keeping costs down. Wheeled robots with eight-joint arms handle materials and assembly lines, running for six hours straight with positioning accuracy within 0.02 millimeters. Bipedal robots climb stairs and navigate obstacles for security patrols and customer service.

What makes these robots special is their brain. The system combines thinking-level perception for planning tasks with reflex-level control for instant movements. In May 2026, the team partnered with universities to develop RAM, a 3D spatial model that helps robots bridge the gap between understanding what to do and actually doing it with precise hand movements.

The robots are heading overseas. BEKO, a European appliance brand, deployed them for quality inspection at its Turkey refrigerator factory. At Germany's LogiMAT 2026 trade show in March, a NAVIAI robot ran nonstop for three days without breaking down during a demonstration with KION Group, a global logistics giant.

CTO Xu Xuecheng explained the company's philosophy: target boring and dangerous jobs that humans don't want, not positions workers are competing for. The team is already testing retail robots that dispense drinks and make ice cream with 98% voice recognition and 99.9% grasping success.

Their strategy is working smart, not just fast. Polish the robots at Chinese operations of global companies, then replicate the proven systems to factories in Europe and North America.

Xu estimates household humanoid robots will arrive in about a decade, but the real story is happening now: Chinese robotics is moving from flashy demonstrations to actual business value, one precisely sewn seam at a time.
