Choreographer Remo D'Souza Raised a Fox He Thought Was a Puppy

When Remo D'Souza rushed home from school and spotted what looked like puppies near a drain, he didn't think twice about crawling in to rescue one. The future Bollywood choreographer gave his new friend a bath and waited excitedly to show his parents his latest pet.

The big reveal didn't go quite as planned. When his mom called his dad to see what young Remo had brought home, his father delivered the surprise: "Yeh lomdi ka baccha hai!" (This is a fox cub!)

On The Happy Pawdcast, D'Souza laughed about the mix-up that's more common than you might think. Dr. Vinod Sharma from DCC Animal Hospital explains that fox cubs and puppies share striking similarities in their early weeks, from their fuzzy coats to their playful energy.

A 2017 BBC report documented rescuers making the exact same mistake with a week-old fox cub. The resemblance is real, though key differences exist: foxes have pointy snouts versus dogs' broader faces, cat-like slit pupils instead of round ones, and bushier tails with white tips.
