Claude AI Embeds Slack, Figma Inside Chat Window

Switching between browser tabs while trying to get work done just became a lot less frustrating.

Anthropic announced Monday that Claude, its popular AI assistant, can now open and run business apps like Slack, Figma, and Asana directly inside the chat window. Instead of asking Claude for advice and then manually copying information between apps, users can now build project timelines, draft team messages, create charts, and design presentations all in one place.

The feature launched today with nine integrations including Amplitude, Asana, Box, Canva, Clay, Figma, Hex, Monday.com, and Slack. Salesforce integration is coming soon, and the best part? It's included free with existing Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions.

The technology behind this is called MCP Apps, an extension to Anthropic's open-source Model Context Protocol. Because it's open-source, other AI companies can adopt the same approach, meaning this isn't just a Claude feature but potentially an industry-wide shift in how AI assistants work.

The practical applications are genuinely impressive. Data teams can ask questions in plain English and get interactive charts with citations through Hex. Marketing teams can turn brainstorming sessions into formatted Slack messages that they can review before posting. Project managers can convert meeting notes into Asana task lists with deadlines that sync automatically.

Anthropic built important safeguards into the system. Before Claude takes any action like sending a message or creating a project, it shows users a preview and asks for confirmation. Enterprise administrators can also control which integrations their teams can access, giving IT departments oversight without micromanaging every interaction.

The timing matters too. This announcement comes just days after Anthropic's CEO made headlines at Davos discussing AI's workplace impact, and weeks after Claude Code became a surprise viral hit. That coding assistant, originally built for software developers, has been adopted by companies like Uber and Netflix, with even Microsoft employees reportedly using it despite the company selling a competing product.

The Ripple Effect

What started as a better chatbot is becoming something bigger: a fundamental rethinking of how we interact with workplace software. Instead of learning dozens of different apps and switching between them constantly, workers might soon have a single conversational interface that connects everything.

The shift could be especially meaningful for people who find traditional software overwhelming or inaccessible. If you can describe what you need in plain language and see it happen across multiple platforms, technical barriers start disappearing.

Anthropic isn't charging extra for these integrations, which suggests the company sees this as essential to Claude's future rather than a bonus feature.
