Luminarias lining a track at dusk during Relay For Life cancer fundraising event

Clearfield County's 33rd Relay Aims to Raise $100K

✨ Faith Restored

A Pennsylvania community is gearing up for its 33rd annual Relay For Life, bringing together cancer survivors, families, and supporters for a 12-hour celebration of hope. The May 16 event features survivor ceremonies, hundreds of luminarias, and a new car show to support the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission.

For 33 years, the people of Central Clearfield County have shown up for each other in the fight against cancer, and this May they're doing it again.

On Saturday, May 16, the Clearfield County Fairgrounds will host the 2026 American Cancer Society Relay For Life from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The community has set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 to support cancer research, patient services, and advocacy work that saves lives.

This year's theme, "United by Our Stories," honors the reality that every cancer journey is different yet connected by courage and strength. The daylong event celebrates survivors, remembers those lost, and brings neighbors together around a shared mission.

The celebration kicks off with an Opening Ceremony at noon, followed by a free survivor dinner at 5:00 p.m. inside the Expo 1 Building. Cancer survivors can bring one guest for free, with additional guests welcome for just $5 each.

At 6:30 p.m., survivors and their caregivers will take their honorary lap around the track during the Survivor Ceremony. The American Cancer Society recognizes anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer as a survivor, no matter where they are in their journey.

As darkness falls at 7:00 p.m., the Luminaria Ceremony will light up the track with hundreds of glowing tributes. Each luminaria represents hope, remembrance, and the determination to keep fighting until cancer is defeated.

New this year is a community cruise-in for car enthusiasts. Vehicle owners can register at the entrance for $10, with all proceeds supporting Relay For Life. It's a chance to show off classic and custom rides while backing a cause that touches nearly every family.

The Ripple Effect

Event volunteer Cammeron Ogden sees Relay For Life as more than a fundraiser. "It is a volunteer-led movement that unites communities to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and raise funds to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families," Ogden explained.

The money raised stays in motion long after the event ends. It funds breakthrough research, provides free rides to treatment, offers lodging near hospitals, and connects patients with critical resources. It powers advocacy efforts that expand access to care and early detection programs that catch cancer when it's most treatable.

Throughout the day, food and artisan vendors will line the fairgrounds alongside team booths, creating a festival atmosphere that proves community and compassion can coexist with celebration.

Anyone interested in participating, forming a team, or purchasing luminarias can visit Relay.org/CentralClearfield or call 814-762-6204.

When the lights come on at 10:00 p.m., Central Clearfield County will have once again proven that hope multiplies when a community chooses to walk together.
