Residential four-plex building housing Mind Over Matter Wellness and Recovery program in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs Recovery Home Bridges Path to Independence

✨ Faith Restored

Two people who've walked the path of addiction recovery are opening a sober living home that goes beyond just providing a roof. Mind Over Matter helps men build real-world skills for lasting stability.

Getting sober is hard. Staying sober while rebuilding your entire life is even harder.

That's the gap Dominic Cateriano and Nicole Mobley saw in Colorado Springs' recovery landscape. Both have experienced addiction firsthand, and both noticed what happens after treatment ends: people get housing and maybe job placement help, but little support for the practical skills needed to thrive independently.

So they created Mind Over Matter Wellness & Recovery, a men's transitional housing program that just opened its doors. The program can house up to 15 men in a four-plex property, offering structure and community in a substance-free environment.

What makes this different from typical sober living homes is the focus on building toward independence. Residents get help with resume writing, interview prep, budgeting, financial literacy, and credit building. The program also emphasizes wellness, fitness, and community connection.

"We want to have a lot more options like health and fitness and progressing in their career, just activities and community to be a part of, so they can integrate back into society and feel comfortable and feel wanted all at the same time," Cateriano said.

For $800 per month, men who've completed detox, residential treatment, or outpatient programs can access this next critical step. Cateriano credits his own recovery program with saving his life, and he wanted to create that same foundation for others.

Why This Inspires

Recovery isn't just about stopping substance use. It's about learning to navigate bills, jobs, relationships, and daily life without falling back into old patterns.

Programs like Mind Over Matter recognize that true recovery means building a life worth staying sober for. When people have the tools to manage money, advance in careers, and feel connected to community, they're not just surviving recovery, they're thriving in it.

The timing matters too. With nearly 1,500 people experiencing homelessness in El Paso County, including about 300 considered chronically homeless, every pathway to stable housing and independence counts.

Mind Over Matter is now accepting residents and welcomes anyone who needs this bridge between treatment and independent living.
