Constantine Girls Win School's First Wrestling District Title

Constantine High School's girls wrestling team just rewrote their school's record books, capturing the first district championship in the program's history on February 15 in Dowagiac, Michigan.

The Falcons dominated the competition with 117 total points, nearly 45 points ahead of second-place Harper Creek. This victory marks a significant milestone as the Michigan High School Athletic Association awarded district team titles to girls wrestling programs for the very first time.

Three Constantine wrestlers claimed individual district championships in their weight classes. Abby Robinson (125 pounds), Eliza VandenBerg (170 pounds), and Presleigh Casselman (190 pounds) each stood atop the podium in their respective divisions.

The success didn't stop there. Four additional Falcons earned spots at regionals: Jeorgia Mast, Tessa Bienz, Sofia Avila, and AnnaBelle Robinson, bringing Constantine's total regional qualifiers to seven athletes.

Three Rivers High School's MacKenna Webster delivered one of the day's most impressive performances. She won all three of her 145-pound bouts in under a minute each, earning her ticket to the regional round with decisive victories.

This historic win represents more than just one team's success. It reflects the rapid growth of girls wrestling across Michigan and the nation, where female athletes are finally receiving equal recognition and competitive opportunities in a sport traditionally dominated by boys.
