Container Company Plants 10,000 Trees in Colorado Wildfire Zone

A storage company is turning shipping containers into second chances for both customers and burned forests.

Eveon Containers just renewed its partnership with Land Life to plant 10,000 native trees across northern Colorado's Rocky Mountains. The trees will restore nearly 6,000 acres destroyed by the devastating East Troublesome Fire in 2020.

The wildfire tore through the region in a single day, stripping entire forest ecosystems and forcing wildlife to flee. Without human help, experts say the land would need hundreds of years to naturally regenerate a healthy, biodiverse forest.

The new trees will capture an estimated 2,124 tonnes of carbon dioxide over the next 40 years. That's roughly equivalent to taking 460 cars off the road for a year.

Eveon sells used shipping containers that have finished their ocean transport life, giving them a second purpose as land-based storage units. The company reduces unnecessary shipping by selling containers in the same markets where they're decommissioned, rather than hauling empty boxes across the country.

The reforestation program offsets emissions from delivering those containers to customers nationwide. Since partnering with Land Life in 2022, Eveon has now planted nearly 15,000 trees globally.

"Every business decision we make must answer to one standard: does it move us closer to reducing emissions?" said Aad Storm, the company's CEO and founder. "For us, that's not a policy. It's the only logical way forward."

The Ripple Effect

The project does more than plant trees. Native species will stabilize soil to prevent erosion, restore wildlife habitats, and support local jobs through partnerships with regional nurseries and land management experts.

The location matters too. This particular landscape ranks among Colorado's most important areas for biodiversity, meaning the trees will help countless species find their way home.

Strategic reforestation can compress what would take generations into just a few decades of recovery. Each tree becomes a building block for an entire ecosystem, providing food, shelter, and clean air for both wildlife and nearby communities.

The forests are coming back, one container delivery at a time.
