Costco Stranger Gifts $100 to Two NY Veterans
A simple lunch between two military veterans turned into an unforgettable moment of kindness at a New York Costco. Now, one of the veterans is searching for the generous stranger who gifted them $100 to say thank you.
A simple lunch between two military veterans turned into an unforgettable moment of community gratitude when a generous stranger stepped forward. Army veteran John Christina sat down to share a slice of pizza with a fellow former soldier sitting alone at a New York Costco.
Christina, who serves as the post historian for Southold American Legion Post 803, quickly bonded with the former Green Beret. Over warm slices, the two men swapped memories of basic training, their service years, and the shared camaraderie of military life.
As they spoke, a woman seated at the next table quietly listened to their conversation. She gently tapped Christina on the shoulder, handed each veteran a $50 Costco gift card, and offered her sincere thanks for their service.
The sudden act of generosity caught both men completely off guard. The woman mentioned that she lived on nearby Shelter Island, but the encounter moved so quickly that Christina never had the chance to ask for her name.

Now, Christina is on a mission to track down the good Samaritan so he can express his heartfelt appreciation. With Veterans Day approaching, he wants her to know how deeply her unexpected kindness touched his heart.
Service and community have always gone hand in hand for the Long Island veteran. Outside his post duties, Christina regularly assists an 85-year-old former Navy pilot who lives alone, driving him to the grocery store and offering a helping hand.
He believes that caring for others is a lifelong privilege that only grows richer with age. Meeting a fellow veteran and receiving unexpected grace from a stranger reminded him why he loves his country.
Sunny's Take
A spontaneous gesture of appreciation carries profound power to bridge generations and uplift spirits. When we take a moment to acknowledge the service and sacrifices of others, we strengthen the ties that hold our communities together.
Kindness creates an unbreakable bond between neighbors, proving that gratitude and goodwill are always right around the corner.
