Crawley Celebrates Diversity with Town Unity Festival

When Crawley's Memorial Gardens filled with residents from dozens of cultures last Saturday, it proved that celebrating differences can actually bring people closer together.

The UNITY: Crawley Together festival welcomed families from across the town for a morning of performances, music, and community connection. Local artists Victoria Boltwood and Yesha performed live sets while dancers from Niruththiyalayam School of Dance brought traditional moves to life.

Mayor Marion Ayling opened the celebration with words that captured why the event mattered. "What defines Crawley is the way we come together," she told the crowd. "It is the respect we show one another and the shared belief that everyone should feel welcome, valued and included."

The free event gave residents a rare chance to experience their neighbors' cultural traditions up close. Members of Crawley Writers Circle shared readings while community and faith leaders spoke about the power of understanding across differences.
