Czech Archer Shatters Indoor World Record by 19 Points

A winter of hard training just paid off in spectacular fashion for Czech para archer Sarka Pultar Musilova.

The 35-year-old athlete fired 586 points during the 60-arrow qualification round at the national para archery championships in Plzeň on March 21. That performance shattered the previous women's W1 indoor world record of 567 points by an impressive 19-point margin.

The previous record belonged to Spain's Isabel Fernandez Jimenez, who set it just weeks earlier. Pultar Musilova had also held the indoor world record back in 2020 with a score of 559.

"I'm very happy that I managed to break the world record," Pultar Musilova said after her historic performance. "My coach and I trained hard throughout the winter, and it paid off."

She quickly credited her support system for making the achievement possible. Without the people working alongside her, she noted, the record wouldn't have happened.

But she's not done yet. Pultar Musilova sees this as just another challenge to overcome in the coming years.

Pultar Musilova has competed at three Paralympic Games (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024) and stands as one of the most consistent performers in the women's W1 category. She's collected four Paralympic silver medals and one bronze across individual and mixed team events.

At the Paris Paralympics, she set both a Paralympic and outdoor world record in the W1 qualifying round. She's also the reigning World Archery Para Champion, having defeated the same Fernandez Jimenez she just surpassed in the 2025 gold medal match in Gwangju.
