Dad Visits 30 MLB Parks in 30 Days for Water Safety

A father is living every baseball fan's dream for the most heartbreaking reason: to honor the son who never got to play the game he loved.

Jonathan St. Clair is visiting all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums in 30 days to spread awareness about water safety. Twelve years ago, his 21-month-old son Jasper drowned in an ungated pool while under a babysitter's care, left unattended for just minutes.

"We were very taken aback," St. Clair told Fox News Digital. "How come we didn't know how dangerous water was, or how come we couldn't put kids in swim lessons earlier?"

St. Clair wears a life jacket to every game, paired with a custom MLB cap featuring all 30 team logos. The unusual outfit starts conversations everywhere he goes, which is exactly the point.

"It's fun to walk around town with a life vest on because everybody doesn't know what to ask, and then somebody will ask, and it starts the conversation," he said. The response has been overwhelming: one father offered his first-class seat, another gave him tickets to watch batting practice from behind home plate.

The trip is a logistical marathon involving 17 flights, six drives, four trains, one boat, and one bike. St. Clair works with water safety organizations in all 30 cities, connecting families who share similar tragedies.

"I wouldn't have been able to put one foot forward 12 years ago if it wasn't for this group of families," he said. He's met hundreds of parents who've experienced the same unimaginable loss.

The Ripple Effect

The campaign reaches far beyond 30 ballparks. St. Clair hopes to prevent other families from experiencing what his went through by making water safety impossible to ignore.

"I know we're never going to get it to zero, but the goal is to make people aware," he said. "If they're in rivers and things like that, wear a life jacket."

His message couldn't be more urgent. Just this week, five people drowned in an Ohio river.

The lifelong Dodgers fan knows his son would have loved baseball. "I figured one thing about this sport specifically is it starts with really young kids, as young as 3," St. Clair said. "My son didn't get to play the game. I know that he definitely would have."

Hundreds of volunteers are supporting his journey, making each stop meaningful rather than just another layover. Even when exhausted from back-to-back flights and games, St. Clair keeps going because this mission is bigger than him.

One father's grief is becoming countless families' salvation.
