Montserrat Luna thought she was heading to a fancy chef's dinner in Dallas when her boyfriend's family invited the Austin couple up for the weekend.

The dinner got "canceled," so they grabbed seafood instead. After the meal, Benjamin Battleson's sister-in-law suggested a trolley ride around the city.

"We walked to the trolley stop, and his brother and sister-in-law suggested it would be really cute to get a picture with the trolley in the background," Luna tells PEOPLE. As the 23-year-old posed for photos, a trolley pulled up behind them.

She turned around and spotted familiar faces pressed against the windows. Her best friends. His best friends. All in the same place.

"As soon as I saw those people in the same room, I knew exactly what was going on," Luna recalls. The shock hit her immediately, and happy tears started flowing.

Battleson guided his sobbing girlfriend onto the trolley, where 20 of their closest friends and family waited. He dropped to one knee. She said yes. The engagement party started rolling through Dallas right then and there.

The couple matched on Bumble in 2022, and their first date lasted eight hours because neither wanted it to end. They've since adopted two cats together, Lorelai and Uno.

Luna had suspected something might happen that day, but Battleson and her best friend convinced her she was wrong. She went to breakfast with friends who "happened" to be in Dallas, worked from home, and got ready for what she thought was just a nice dinner out.

"These are the people who have truly watched our relationship grow, so having them there to witness the proposal was actually magical," Luna says.
