Dangote Foundation Partners with IsDB on Poverty Reduction

The Aliko Dangote Foundation is teaming up with the Islamic Development Bank to deliver more healthcare, education, and poverty relief programs across Africa and other developing regions.

The partnership was formalized during a high-level meeting at the IsDB headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Foundation CEO Zouera Youssoufou and Head of Community Engagement Ahmed Iya met with IsDB Vice President Dr. Rami Ahmad to map out areas for collaboration.

The Dangote Foundation, Africa's largest private philanthropic organization, already runs programs fighting disease, funding education, and providing food support across the continent. Founded by Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote, the foundation has partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on polio eradication and led major COVID-19 relief efforts through the Coalition Against COVID-19.

The Islamic Development Bank brings financing power to the table, funding infrastructure, healthcare, and education projects across member countries. Dr. Ahmad noted that many nations face debt pressures limiting their ability to invest in social programs, making partnerships with private foundations increasingly vital.
