Daniel Stern Sculpts Life-Size Bronze 'Marv' for Home Alone House

Daniel Stern is bringing his iconic Home Alone character back to life in the most unexpected way: through his own hands as a sculptor.

The actor, who famously screamed his way through the role of bumbling burglar Marv Merchants, created a life-size bronze sculpture of his character for the restored McCallister family home in Winnetka, Illinois. The piece captures Marv's most memorable moment: the spider scene that still makes fans cringe and laugh 30 years later.

Stern left Hollywood years ago to pursue sculpture full-time, and this project let him merge both passions. The new owners of the famous brick house, purchased for $5.5 million in 2025, commissioned him to create "Marv by Marv" for their living room.

The sculpture includes every hilarious detail. The iron sits on Marv's head while tarantula Axl clings to his face. The hands wear gloves and actually move, inviting visitors to interact with the piece. Even the oversized collar and classic sideburns made the cut.

"This new sculpture really forced me to take a good, hard look at myself," Stern joked on Instagram. "Now you can too."

The original scene took real courage to film. When the crew offered Stern a rubber spider, they also had the real tarantula ready. The animal handler assured him it was gentle, but Stern learned the stinger couldn't be removed without killing the spider.

"I said yeah, but if you don't take it out, I'll die," Stern recalled in a 2025 interview. He did it anyway, stinger and all, across multiple takes.

That scream fans remember? Completely genuine every single time. Stern wanted to hit a home run in every scene, even if it meant letting a venomous spider crawl across his face while he shrieked at full volume.
