Denmark and Ghana University Team Up on Climate Solutions

A handshake between a European diplomat and a West African university leader could spark research breakthroughs that help communities fight climate change.

Danish Ambassador Jakob Linulf visited the University of Cape Coast in Ghana this January to strengthen ties between his country and one of West Africa's leading educational institutions. The meeting with Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Denis Aheto focused on creating pathways for joint research, renewable energy projects, and climate action programs.

Ambassador Linulf praised UCC's growing reputation among Danish academics and encouraged faculty members to apply for the Danida Fellowship Programme. This initiative funds advanced research and helps build capacity at universities in developing nations. He described Ghana as a strategic partner in West Africa and said Danish universities are eager to collaborate through staff exchanges and shared research projects.

The partnership comes at a crucial time when both countries are seeking practical solutions to climate challenges.
