Amy and Kyle Hudson from Derby shattered the around-the-world cycling record by 82 days, completing their 18,000-mile journey through 20 countries while raising £55,000 for mental health charities. Their triumph is even sweeter because cycling saved both their lives.
A Derby couple just pedaled into the record books after cycling around the entire world in just 123 days, crushing the previous record by nearly three months.
Amy and Kyle Hudson, both 30, from Mickleover, completed their 18,000-mile journey through 20 countries on September 2nd. The previous record holders took 205 days to finish the same challenge in 2023.
The adventure pushed them through sweltering 43°C heat in Malaysian jungles, over 9,000 feet of climbing in New Zealand, and past grizzly bears in Alaska. They averaged an incredible 146 miles every day, starting each morning at 4am.
Kyle even crashed into a car in Canada with just two weeks remaining, likely breaking his collarbone. He pedaled through the pain to finish what they started together.

They returned home to Sudbury Stables in Derbyshire, greeted by friends, family, and their dog Chester. Their celebration plans included a spa visit and, more urgently, a trip to A&E for Kyle's shoulder.
"I think it just makes you appreciate life so much more," Amy said through tears of relief and joy. "I'm just so grateful that we're in this place and I'm happier now."
The couple raised over £55,000 for mental health charities Shout and The Mix, turning their personal recovery stories into hope for others facing similar struggles. They're now awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records while processing what they've accomplished together.
