Doctor Spends 90% of Salary Bringing Care to Rural Bihar

Dr Raman Kishore was in his first year of medical school when his mother fell critically ill. No hospital was close enough, no doctor could reach her in time, and he watched helplessly as she died.

Since 2020, he has spent every weekend traveling to some of Bihar's most remote villages, setting up free medical camps for families who rarely see a doctor. He funds these camps almost entirely himself, spending between 80 and 90 percent of his monthly salary on medicines, consultations, and diagnostic tests.

Patients receive ECGs, blood sugar tests, medications, and medical advice without paying a single rupee. Week after week, he returns to communities where a doctor's visit used to feel impossible.

Over 40,000 people have received treatment through his camps. For many families, these visits have meant timely diagnoses, life-saving interventions, and the simple reassurance that someone cares enough to make the journey.

Dr Kishore doesn't ask for donations or outside support. He quietly redirects nearly his entire income toward keeping his childhood promise, choosing to live simply so others can simply live.
