Dog Missing 5 Years Reunites with LA Owner

When Michelle Bluestone's phone rang in February 2026, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her dog Lola, missing since 2021, had been found alive on a roadside in Echo Park.

Bluestone adopted Lola from a Los Angeles shelter in 2018 when the Schnauzer mix was just three years old. The pair became inseparable companions in their Reseda home, making every day brighter for three wonderful years.

Then came every pet owner's nightmare. Lola escaped through a gap in the backyard fence in 2021 and vanished without a trace.

Bluestone searched relentlessly for months, blanketing neighborhoods with flyers and posting desperate pleas on local Facebook pages. "Please help me find my baby," she wrote to strangers, holding onto hope that someone, somewhere, had seen her beloved dog.

But the phone call never came. As weeks turned into months and then years, Bluestone slowly accepted that she might never see Lola again.

Life moved forward. She got married, started a new job, finished her education, and moved to Simi Park. She even welcomed another dog named Sunny into her home, though Lola always held a special place in her heart.

The breakthrough came from the one thing Bluestone had done right all those years ago. When someone found Lola on the side of the road and brought her to a police station, officers contacted an animal shelter about an hour from Bluestone's new home. A routine microchip scan revealed Lola's registered owner information.

"I was in such shock and couldn't even believe it," Bluestone said when the shelter called with the incredible news.
