$133M Dairy Plant Expansion Creates 47 Jobs in Pennsylvania

A massive dairy facility in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania just announced a $132.9 million expansion that will create 47 new jobs and strengthen the state's farming economy.

Schreiber Foods, which produces yogurt and cream cheese at its Cumberland County plant, revealed the investment will also protect 516 existing jobs. The expansion will allow the facility to process an additional 109,000 pounds of milk every single day.

The project received a $1 million grant from Pennsylvania's Department of Community and Economic Development. State leaders gathered with business executives and local farmers to celebrate the announcement at the Dykeman Road facility.

What makes this expansion special is its direct connection to Pennsylvania's farming communities. About two-thirds of the milk processed at the plant comes from Pennsylvania dairy farmers who have partnered with Schreiber Foods for decades.

Rod Hissong, co-owner of Mercer Vu Farm, explained that his family's dairy operation sends roughly a third of their product to the Shippensburg facility through the Land O Lakes cooperative. That partnership has supported his farm across multiple generations.
