Dubai's Visitor Invite Program Hits 90,000 Sign-Ups
Dubai residents flooded a tourism program with 90,000 applications to bring friends and family to the city with discounts worth €700. The overwhelming response forced organizers to triple the number of available packages.
When Dubai launched a program letting residents share their city with loved ones abroad, officials expected interest but got something much bigger.
The "A Dubai Invite" scheme received over 90,000 applications from residents eager to bring friends and family to visit. Launched in July, the program turned everyday residents into city ambassadors, offering discount packages worth more than €700 per visitor.
The response overwhelmed organizers in the best possible way. The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism had to triple the number of available benefit packages to meet demand, ultimately distributing over 30,000 packages to successful applicants.
Residents who got approved received perks including discounted hotel stays at properties like W Dubai Mina Seyahi and The Westin, reduced tickets to attractions like Aquaventure Waterpark and IMG Worlds of Adventure, and dining offers across the city. Benefits activate within 72 hours of guests arriving and remain valid through December 31st.

The program closed new registrations after hitting capacity, but visitors already registered can still arrive through October 31st. They just need to fly directly to Dubai from outside the UAE to qualify.
The Ripple Effect
The initiative reveals something heartwarming about modern cities: residents want to share their homes with the people they love. Tourism officials noted that the "visiting friends and relatives" segment plays a crucial role in Dubai's tourism ecosystem, but this program proved it works both ways.
By empowering residents to become ambassadors, Dubai tapped into authentic enthusiasm that no marketing campaign could buy. When 90,000 people raise their hands to say "come see where I live," that's not just tourism strategy. That's pride of place.
The program comes as Dubai works to maintain momentum after welcoming a record 19.59 million international visitors in 2025. While regional challenges have complicated travel in 2026, this resident-driven approach offers a different path forward, one built on personal connections rather than promotional campaigns.
Sometimes the best way to welcome the world is to let the people who already call a place home do the inviting.
