Duke the Dog Saved Hours Before Euthanasia, Now Ready

Duke was hours away from being put down when Randy Tipton's phone rang with a last-minute plea for help.

Multiple behavior specialists at the Boone County Animal Shelter in Kentucky had labeled the dog too unpredictable to save. But Tipton, who runs CRC Paws Cause, saw something different when Cleo's Legacy rescue connected him with Duke's case in late February.

"We believe every dog deserves a chance to show who they really are," Tipton said. He took Duke in, knowing the road ahead wouldn't be easy.

For the past several weeks, Duke has worked through intensive behavioral training at the rescue facility. The transformation has been remarkable. The once-unpredictable dog now walks calmly on a leash and plays well with other animals at the rescue.
