Durham Bulls Host 9 Weddings in 9 Innings at Baseball Game

Imagine buying a ticket to a baseball game and accidentally becoming a wedding guest nine times over.

That's exactly what happened to more than 3,700 fans at Wednesday night's Durham Bulls game in North Carolina. Between each of the nine innings, a different couple walked onto the field, exchanged vows, and sealed their marriage with a kiss while the crowd cheered them on.

Bride Tori Raeihle admitted her first reaction to the idea was skepticism. "At first, I was like, 'Oh my God, you're crazy,'" she told local news.

But the concept quickly won her over. "It fits us. He's played baseball his whole life, and it's definitely the opportunity of a lifetime," she explained.

The Triple-A affiliate partnered with a local jeweler and radio station to make the mass celebration possible. Rings were exchanged, vows were spoken, and nine new marriages began while the Bulls faced off against the Nashville Sounds (even though Durham lost 10-2, love clearly won the night).

While ballpark proposals happen regularly and stadium weddings aren't totally uncommon, nine ceremonies in nine innings stands out as genuinely unique. Minor League stadiums have even hosted high school proms during games, but Durham has carved out its own special niche with this event.
