Storing your own solar power at home is about to get easier and cheaper, thanks to a major launch from energy storage company EcoFlow.

The China-based manufacturer just unveiled its Stream 5000 series in the UK, with two new 5 kilowatt-hour batteries designed for homeowners who want reliable backup power and energy independence. Early bird pricing starts at just £1,499, making professional-grade home energy storage more accessible than ever.

The timing couldn't be better. As energy costs remain volatile across Europe and more homes install solar panels, affordable battery storage has become the missing piece for true energy independence.

The Stream 5000 comes in two versions. The standard Stream 5000 connects directly to solar panels and can handle up to 5 kilowatts of solar input across four charging points. The Stream AC 5000 costs slightly less but needs to be charged from the grid or an existing solar inverter rather than directly from panels.

Both models pack impressive longevity. EcoFlow rates them for 10,000 charge cycles, which translates to decades of daily use. They also come with a 10-year warranty, showing the company stands behind the technology.

For homeowners worried about power outages, the Stream 5000 delivers up to 3 kilowatts of output power when off-grid. That's enough to keep refrigerators, lights, and essential devices running during blackouts.

The modular design means you can start small and grow. Each unit can be expanded with additional batteries, and the new models even work alongside older Stream products to create systems storing up to 90 kilowatt-hours. That's enough to power an entire home for days.

EcoFlow included thoughtful safety features too. Two pressure relief valves protect against the rare but serious risk of battery thermal runaway. The units also activate special low-temperature charging below 10 degrees Celsius, addressing a common problem with batteries in cold climates.

The UK launch is just the beginning. EcoFlow confirmed wider European rollout is coming, with German pricing already listed at €1,299 (VAT-free). The company showcased the new line at Intersolar 2026, signaling country-specific launches across Europe soon.
