Ed Sheeran Crashes Chicago Wedding for Surprise Performance

Imagine dancing at your wedding reception when suddenly one of the world's biggest pop stars walks in to serenade you and your guests. That's exactly what happened to Chicago newlyweds Tessa Kindelin and Brendan Harty on June 27.

The magical surprise started with a bold Instagram DM from the bride's brother, Mike Kindelin. He reached out to DJ Martin Garrix, knowing the artist had a show near the Adler Planetarium where the wedding reception was taking place. Mike asked if Garrix could stop by to surprise his sister, a huge fan.

Garrix agreed immediately. But he had an even bigger surprise up his sleeve.

Ed Sheeran also had a concert in Chicago that same night. Without telling Mike the full plan, Garrix arranged for both of them to show up together. The bride had no idea what was about to happen.

When the two musicians walked into the reception, the room erupted. Tessa saw Garrix first and couldn't believe her eyes. Then she turned and spotted Ed Sheeran, already singing.

"It took me a long second to process that it was really him, and I think I just screamed," Tessa told People magazine. "I was shocked. I had no idea that Ed Sheeran would be joining Martin."

The artists performed their collaboration "Repeat It" and Sheeran's romantic hit "Perfect." Guests captured videos of the performance, with one showing the moment the musicians entered to thunderous cheers and disbelief.
