Egypt Fast-Tracks 1,500 MW Wind Energy Projects with UAE

Egypt is making real progress on its clean energy future, with 1,500 megawatts of wind power projects moving forward in two key locations along the Red Sea coast.

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with Daniel Calderon, founder of UAE-based Alcazar Energy, on May 7, 2026, to review the timeline for wind farms in Zaafarana and south Hurghada. The projects represent a significant leap in Egypt's renewable energy capacity.

The initiative includes two major developments. The first is a 500-megawatt wind farm in Zaafarana, already underway. The second is an even larger 1,000-megawatt project near Hurghada, being built in two phases to speed up completion.

Both sites are racing to connect to Egypt's national electricity grid on schedule. The government is working closely with Alcazar Energy to remove any roadblocks and keep construction moving at full speed.

The Ripple Effect

This wind energy push is part of Egypt's National Energy Strategy to dramatically increase renewable power across the country. More clean energy means less reliance on fossil fuels and cleaner air for millions of Egyptians.
