In a powerful New Year message that signals unwavering commitment, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah outlined an ambitious vision for 2026, promising to accelerate the state's development across multiple critical sectors.

Speaking directly to citizens, Mbah emphasized that the upcoming year would be a "quantum leap" for the state, characterized by strategic consolidation of achievements rather than complacency. His broadcast highlighted tangible progress already made, including revival of public assets, comprehensive infrastructure upgrades, and significant improvements in transport, water, security, and education systems.

The governor's detailed roadmap includes an aggressive urban infrastructure plan, with commitments to pave all city roads, install proper drainage, walkways, and enhance street lighting for improved safety. Water supply will receive substantial attention through major projects like the 9th Mile 24/7 Water Scheme and revitalization of the Ajali and Oji River water systems, aimed at delivering clean water to more households.

Education emerges as a key focus, with plans to fully operationalize 260 Smart Schools across the state. These institutions will provide digital learning facilities, modern science laboratories, renewable energy infrastructure, and free daily meals to over 300,000 pupils. Additionally, each of the state's 260 wards will receive a fully equipped Primary Healthcare Centre to improve medical access.

Mbah also announced ambitious expansion plans for the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, including growing Enugu Air's fleet to 20 aircraft—a strategic move designed to stimulate trade, tourism, and investment. On security, the governor delivered a stern message, promising rigorous tracking and prosecution of criminal activities while maintaining a proactive protective stance.
