Equinix Brings 200 Manufacturing Jobs to Dundalk

Hundreds of skilled jobs are coming to Dundalk as digital infrastructure giant Equinix commits up to $700 million to build an advanced manufacturing hub in County Louth.

The new 150,000 square foot Hanley Energy facility will manufacture specialized power equipment for data centers serving AI and high-performance computing needs globally. Hiring has already begun for 200 engineers and technicians focused on precision engineering, quality assurance, and lean manufacturing.

Equinix is guaranteeing at least $70 million annually over an initial five-year period, extendable to 10 years. This long-term commitment signals Ireland's growing importance in the global technology supply chain.

The facility will produce low-voltage switchgear, Power Distribution Units, and Remote Power Panels that keep data centers running efficiently worldwide. By manufacturing these components locally, Equinix expects to achieve 10 to 15 percent faster delivery times compared to traditional procurement methods.

The building itself prioritizes sustainability through low-carbon materials and efficient construction practices. It will house Ireland and the UK's only independent temperature-controlled testing laboratory certified to the highest global standards, ensuring every piece of equipment meets rigorous performance requirements.

The Ripple Effect

This investment extends far beyond the factory floor. Apprenticeship and training programs will launch to develop future-ready talent throughout the Louth region, creating pathways for local residents to build careers in advanced manufacturing.

The facility strengthens Ireland's position as a leader in both digital infrastructure and precision engineering. CEO Adaire Fox-Martin emphasized how the expansion builds on Equinix's longtime Irish presence while meeting growing global customer demand.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin called it a major boost for both the region and Ireland's national economy. The project showcases how global companies increasingly value Irish engineering talent and innovation capabilities.

Hanley Energy, recently acquired by American manufacturing giant Jabil, brings proven expertise in seamless integration from design through production. CEO John O'Driscoll highlighted how the partnership demonstrates the strength of Irish engineering on the world stage.
